Our first ever virtual Flute Academy is happening on February 6th, 2021!
This day-long workshop is open to all flutists. We start with a social meeting where participants can chat with each others and the coordinators, and then move into the following two sessions:
Body Mapping Workshop with Dr. Lisa Marsh
This 2 hour participatory workshop will focuses on body alignment and awareness in order to play with a free, open sound. After a short break, Dr. Marsh will work with three individuals in the second hour of class (you can indicate your interest on the registration form).

Masterclass with Oregon Symphony Principal Flute Martha Long
Designed as much for the observers as the participants, the masterclass is presented as a learning opportunity for everyone. Martha will address matters of musical interpretation (fresh ideas on interpretation), technique and performance strategies as well as provide brief insight on the overall piece, the composers intentions and her experience learning the piece. Scores will be available for those wishing to follow along.
There will be a short Q&A at the end of the masterclass.
The day is open to flutists of all ages and levels!

Participant: Free (members), $10 (nonmembers)
If you wish to perform in the masterclass please note there is limited space, and this class will feature pre-recorded performances. You will need to send a recording of your piece and the score on or before February 1st to secretary@gpfs.org. Solo works are encouraged but piano accompaniments are not required.
Dr. Marsh will work directly with a three students in the morning workshop; please indicate your interest in this on the registration form.
